preparationa and characterization of domperidone inclusion complexes with cyclodextrin: influence of preparation method
Authors
abstract
domperidone is a widely used antiemetic, poorly water soluble drug, erratically absorbed in stomach and possess several dissolution-related problems thus it has poor bioavailability. solubility of a drug plays a very important role in dissolution and hence absorption of drug which ultimately affects its bioavailability. hence, by considering the facts related to drug, attempts have been made to formulate inclusion complexes using methylated ?-cyclodextrin and also to study the effect of preparation method. inclusion complexes were prepared using methylated ?-cyclodextrin in 1:1 and 1:2 molar ratios. kneading, ultrasonification and physical mixture method were used for preparation of inclusion complexes. all the inclusion complexes were characterized using ftir, dsc and xrd. the solubility and dissolution results revealed that there was a considerable increase in solubility and dissolution of all inclusion complexes as compared to pure drug. it was highest in case of methylated ?-cyclodextrin in 1:1 molar ratio using ultrasonification method (usm1). stability study revealed that all complexes were stable for a period of three months.

full textPreparation, Physicochemical Characterization and In-vitro Dissolution Studies of Diosmin-cyclodextrin Inclusion Complexes
Diosmin, a vascular-protecting agent, is practically insoluble in water, and its oral absorption is limited by its extremely low dissolution rate. In this study, β-cyclodextrin (βCD) and 2-hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin (HPβCD) were obtained to improve the solubility and dissolution rate of diosmin. Phase solubility studies of diosmin with βCD and HPβCD in distilled water were conducted to charac...

Pioglitazone, a class II Biopharmaceutical Classification System drug having poor water solubility and slow dissolution rate may have a negative impact on its subtherapeutic plasma drug levels leading to therapeutic failure. In order to improve its water solubility and thus dissolution, cyclodextrin complexation technique was followed. The phase solubility studies were carried using three diffe...

The aim of the present study was to formulate β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) nanoparticles loaded with geraniol (GR) essential oil (EO) with appropriate physicochemical properties. Complexation of GR with β-CD was optimized by evaluation of four formulations, using the co-precipitation method, and the encapsulation efficiency (EE), loading, size, particle size distribution (PDI) and zeta potential were ...
